Credit ratings agency Standard & Poor’s on Monday warned that one of the three U.S. automakers could default over the next 12 months as their financial situations worsen.

S&P said its rating on General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co (F, Fortune 500). and Chrysler LLC is now “CCC+,” well into non-investment grade territory and four notches away from a “D,” or default, rating. All three automakers have negative outlooks, meaning another downgrade in the near future is likely.

Okay, this cracks me up.    What you say?   Am I laughing at the fate of the Big Three?   Absolutely not.

I’m laughing because:

S & P comes out and says, “Hmm, we’re concerned that one of the Big Three could fail…..”

Do you think they were watching TV last week?   Do you think that they read the newspaper last week?

Talk about being Captain Obvious…..
