Jobs – a Different Perspective

Once again, Bill at Calculated Risk has a great graph that tells a lot of the story. Let me “interpret” it for you:
- This doesn’t look at the drop in employment, it looks at the percentage change since the “peak.” That is a little different way to look at it, but it does tell a bit of a different story.
- The recession that we’re in, that started in December of 2007, is panning out to be one that started quite “slowly” but has been accelerating in job losses quite dramatically over the last 6 months.
- Yes, April did slow things down a little bit in terms of job losses, but 8 months ago, a 539,000 job loss and a .4% rise in unemployment is not a good picture.
